What is a product manager?

A product manager is a strategic role in overseeing the entirety of a product life cycle, from beginning to end, and in researching new markets to be targeted by current and future products or services. They set ahead a plan of action for other departments - in marketing, promotions, development, etc. - to follow and implement.

Product manager salary

A product manager is by and large a senior position and so the pay scales to that accordingly. Product managers can expect to earn on average £45k and beyond. Depending on the industry, technical understanding of the product may or may not be required; for example, in IT most product managers are expected to have good knowledge of the product, but for FMCG a product manager may not need specialist knowledge but a master's in business administration.
